CNA Training California
California have its own CNA Board that comprises of California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Licensing and Certification Program (L&C), California Department of Public Health’s Aide and Technician Certification Section (ATCS) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for overseeing the health care facilities, CNA Training California, CNA certification exam and state Nurse Aide Registry.
In California it is the responsibility of Department of Public Health’s Aide and Technician Certification Section (ATCS), CNA/HHA/CHT Certification Unit to approve the certified nurse aide trainings offered by various community and vocational colleges, adult education centers, nursing schools, trade schools, long term care facilities and technical institutes. Therefore, any student aiming to attend training programs in CA must attend CNA programs that are approved by ATCS.
CNA Training California features:
- Program must be ATCS and federal OBRA-87 approved.
- Training duration is 150 hours.
- 50 hours classroom theoretical/lab training
- 100 hours of clinical hands-on training
The basic training course instructions are based on skills required for everyday nursing care of the patients, infection control, basic nursing care skills, medical terminology, personal care skills, such as measuring vital signs, dressing & undressing, washing, movement of the patient, adult care, patient hygiene, grooming and additional skills.
CNA Training California costs approximately $600 to $1000, which includes other school enrollment accessories, such as uniform, text books etc.
There are also online and free training programs offered to CNA students. A student can apply for the state and federal grants and scholarships for free programs. Even long term care facilities pays the training tuition cost of a student, provided the nurse aide or fresh student agrees to work in the facility for certain period of time after completion of the training programs.
